To determine how much weight a circular truss can hold depends on a few characteristics (e.g. the size of the circle, the # of support legs, etc.). Below is a key and step-by-step calculation method easily done with most calculators.
Key:
C = circumference
D = diameter
R = radius
L = length
p (pi) = 3.1416
Step #1
Find the circumference: C = 2p or C = pd Step #3
Compare this length to those listed on the load table for straight segments of the same type.
Step #2
Take C ÷ number of supports = L Step #4
Load ÷ 5 for both UDL and CPL.
